DiRAC is delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for members of the DRI community.
In collaboration with AMD, UCL, and University of Cambridge, we are organising a major multidisciplinary, hands-on event focused on accelerating research through GPU technologies aimed at researchers with none or very little experience with GPUs.
This fully funded, three-day workshop will take place in Birmingham from 11–13 March 2026. Selected teams will work closely with experts from industry, academia, and DiRACs RSEs to explore how GPUs can transform and accelerate research codes.
What to Expect
During the event, participants will:
· Investigate platform-agnostic approaches for future-ready research.
· Learn how GPUs can accelerate existing research codes.
· Explore the transformation of CPU-centric workflows into GPU-optimised solutions.
· Optimise existing GPU-based codes for the latest AMD GPU architectures.
Support and Resources
All selected teams will receive full support before the event, ensuring every participant is well-prepared, regardless of prior GPU experience.
Participants will have in-event access to AMD’s latest GPUs on the DEV Cloud, as well as some post-event GPU access to support integrating accelerators into research long-term.
Why Attend
This event offers a unique opportunity to work directly with experts from AMD, UCL, Cambridge University, and DiRAC. Together, we will help you plan, refactor, and future-proof your research code for the next generation of GPU-based computing.
