ILEKTRA CHRISTIDI – RSE TEAM CO-LEAD

I am a Senior Research Software Engineer in UCL’s Advanced Research Computing Centre (ARC).

My role involves developing and optimising software for research in computational fields, mostly physics and engineering, as well as tools for HPC. As an RSE, I am particularly interested in the sustainability and maintainability of the software in those fields, and I advocate for user-friendly, sustainable and inclusive software and software development practices in HPC in whatever project I am involved.

My background is in Experimental Particle Physics, and I worked as a post-doctoral researcher at CERN’s ATLAS experiment before I joined UCL as an RSE. Therefore I particularly enjoy interacting with the scientific community of DiRAC, and keeping my physics knowledge alive.
