We are delighted to be again sponsoring the upcoming Ariel Data Challenge at NeurIPS 2024, which this year will see teams extracting and interpreting planetary signals from observations gathered by the Ariel Space Mission. Simulations run on the DiRAC facility, and other International data centres, have produced the most accurate representations of Ariel observations to date.
This is the fifth Ariel Data Challenge where teams from across the globe come together to use AI to find innovative solutions to complex research questions and it will be showcased as part of the competition program. The 2023 competition focussed on finding scalable solutions to infer crucial atmospheric properties of exoplanets with the winning results being showcased at the ECML PKDD 2023 conference.
DiRAC’s computing infrastructure has been instrumental in producing the vast datasets required for this year’s challenge, as well as those from previous years. Other sponsors include The UK Space Agency, Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales (CNES), and The European Space Agency (ESA).
